Give a fund a target and a date and the sheet works backwards to the amount you need to set aside each month. Then it says where you stand in plain words: On track · Tight · Ongoing · Funded ✓. No guessing, no percentages to interpret.
Funds come in two kinds. Dated funds have a target and a deadline, and the monthly amount is calculated for you. Ongoing funds are a steady amount with no finish line — car maintenance, pet care — and they’re tracked without pretending they end.
Every dated goal even shows an “on pace for” date — the honest date, not the wishful one. Across your funds you get one figure: what the whole plan costs each month, and whether your savings cover it.

Honest limits
What it doesn’t do.
This is the free starter, so it tops out at three funds, and the activity log holds 20 rows. Ongoing funds get no target math — you set the monthly amount and the file tracks it, while dated goals get theirs worked out for you. It’s built for Excel; there’s no Google Sheets version of the starter. Need more room, a dark mode, or Google Sheets? That’s the full tracker.
